MIT Technology Review’s EmTech Digital Conference Has Some Interesting Tidbits

Last week, MIT Technology Review held a conference focused on artificial intelligence (AI). I’ll gripe just once about the poor technology, both in the video conferencing and the conference web site and agenda management. The problems were serious, and I didn’t expect that, but muddling through that mess brought me to some interesting talks. Dozens Contract Covid-19 After Abundance 360 Conference

A technology executive in California has apologized for hosting a conference in Culver City after which two dozen attendees and staff members at the event tested positive for the coronavirus.

The executive, Peter H. Diamandis, was among those who contracted the coronavirus. He hosted the conference — an annual summit for a paid-membership group called Abundance 360 — indoors in late January, with a total of about 80 attendees, panelists and members of the support staff.

The gathering flouted guidance from public health officials in Los Angeles County, who had repeatedly urged people to avoid excess travel or public mingling.

Technology conference CES going digital for 2021

CES, one of the tech world’s biggest gatherings, will be online-only in 2021 the organisers have confirmed.

The event, normally held in Las Vegas in January, draws many of the biggest technology firms and is seen by many as a curtain-raiser to a year in tech.

But with growing concerns about how long the coronavirus pandemic will last, organisers have said 2021 will be “an all-digital experience”.

It said it was “not possible to safely convene tens of thousands of people”.

Short Idea Pitched By Grizzly Research At Valuewalk Conference Is Down 50%

ValueWalk held its second Contrarian Investors Virtual Conference, and Grizzly Research Founder Siegfried Eggert is pitching Hebron Technology Co Ltd (NASDAQ:HEBT) as a short. He believes Hebron is an “insider enrichment scheme without economic basis.”

Problems with Hebron Technology

In his presentation, Eggert noted that Hebron Technology’s stock has skyrocketed following recent private placements and acquisitions. He believes the company is running an insider enrichment scheme. He also said all of last year’s major transactions were “announced and portrayed as arms-length,” but the Grizzly Research team was able to link all of them back to company insiders.
